The Silk Road Virtual Observatory is introduced as an integrated web-based mechanism for monitoring and reporting Silk Road entrepreneurial dynamic in the Black Sea involved areas. The main idea towards Silk Road Virtual Observatory is to develop a web platform for monitoring, gathering and reporting Silk Road entrepreneurial initiatives, as well as strategic key aspects of the Silk Road tangible and intangible heritage tourism over the SILC project eligible area.

The Silk Road Virtual Observatory is expected to integrate and provide appropriate tools for periodic qualitative and quantitative analyses concerning Silk Road entrepreneurship data and trends. The Observatory web platform will offer quality and transparency by being open to the public.

The main objectives of the Observatory are to provide an information platform for tourism industry, academics and tourists and to support policy makers, businesses and researchers, and in particular by:

– identifying trends and developments in the Silk Road cultural heritage tourism sector;

– facilitating evidence-based policy making in Silk Road cultural heritage tourism.

– Playing a vital informative role for all the business initiatives in the field of Silk Road Entrepreneurship

– Acting as a leading source providing updated information and data about the interregional framework of the Silk Road Entrepreneurship

– Facilitating the development of regional action plans for the strategic planning and implementation of regional policies on entrepreneurship issues.

The multilingual web-platform for the Silk Road local cultures will incorporate an advanced web-GIS tool, the SILCNECT network communication subsystem which will be delivered in another GAS and will be supported by a mobile app to allow easy interaction with the user. The web platform will act as a tool to collect information, to register and share knowledge, and finally to enhance awareness for the Silk Road Local Cultures and promote participation providing the necessary tools to allow all possible users to share their local knowledge and everyday experience with others, together with the contribution of academia, local authorities and business sector, building extensive networks around a common area of interest, as well as new opportunities for tourism entrepreneurship.
